BALI - Applications for the Australian G20 Recover Together, Recover Stronger scholarship are officially open, following the announcement by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese about a program of 10 scholarships for Indonesians who wish to take a Masters or PhD degree in Australia.

"The G20 Recover Together, Recover Stronger Scholarship will foster relationships and friendships, and take advantage of opportunities that benefit our citizens, society and our country," said Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong in a press release from the Australian Embassy, obtained by Antara, in Jakarta, Tuesday, July 12.

The scholarships are said to be awarded for subjects that are in line with Indonesia's G20 priority areas, namely global health design, sustainable energy transition and digital transformation.

Applicants will be assessed for their professional quality, academic competence, and potential to contribute to development challenges in Indonesia.

The scholarship will cover experiences in Australia, including visits to the Australian Parliament Houses as well as meetings with government and industry leaders.

The G20 Scholarship is said to be a prestigious international award given by the Australian government to the next generation of global leaders in Indonesia.

Through study and research, scholarship recipients are expected to be able to develop skills and knowledge to contribute significantly to Indonesia's G20 priorities.

Minister Wang said education is the foundation for Australia and Indonesia in building a common future.

"Education is at the core of how Australia and Indonesia build a shared future with shared experiences," he said.

The G20 is an international forum consisting of 19 countries, plus the European Union, that work together to tackle global issues.

Indonesia holds the G20 Presidency this year.
