WEST PAPUA - The West Papua Provincial Government has disbursed financial assistance to 11 political parties with representative seats in the local DPRD.

The Head of West Papua Kesbangpol Baesara Wael said that the amount of financial assistance for political parties was IDR 4,716 per vote, much higher than in 2021, which was set at IDR 2,946 per vote.

Overall, there has been an increase in political party financial aid grants in West Papua this year with a total of Rp.2,663,678,128, a significant increase compared to 2021 which totaled Rp.1,663,821,258.

"This political party financial assistance is regulated in Permendagri Number 78 of 2020. Political party financial assistance is prioritized to carry out political education for political party members and the public. The Golkar Party received the highest aid disbursement, which was Rp.474,124,792 with 100,523 valid votes in the 2019 Election.

PDI-Perjuangan which received 81,662 valid votes in the 2019 General Election, received financial assistance of Rp. 385,168,662.

Then the Democratic Party with 71,728 valid votes received assistance of Rp. 338,313,719, the Gerindra Party with 45,759 valid votes received assistance of Rp. 215. 827,814.

Acting Governor of West Papua Paulus Waterpauw said that the assistance was given proportionally to political parties that won seats in the DPRD which were calculated through valid votes from the 2019 election results.

Waterpau advised that the grant funds sourced from the West Papua Regional Budget must be administratively accounted for.

"To the management of political parties related to receipt of use and reporting, the deadline for submitting evidence of budget use reports is no later than one month after the end of the fiscal year or January 31, 2023," said Waterpauw reminded.

Political parties will be given sanctions if on January 31, 2023 they have not submitted a report on the use of the budget in the form of delaying the submission of political party funds for the following year.
