Money Politics Still Rising, Firli Bahuri: 82.3 Percent Of Regional Heads Advance For Pilkada Funded By Donors

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri revealed that money politics is still rife. According to him, most of the regional heads who run for Pilkada are supported by donors.

This was conveyed when lecturing the Berkarya Party in the Qualified Smart Politics (PCB) activity at the Red and White Building, KPK, Kuningan Persada today, Tuesday, July 12.

"It turns out, sir, the results of our survey are indeed used to become regional heads using money. 82.3 percent is financed by donors and sponsors. That's the executive," said Firli as shown on the Indonesian KPK YouTube.

Firli said his statement was based on the regional head's confession to him at an event.

The former Deputy for Enforcement of the KPK said that he had met with governors, regents, mayors throughout Indonesia. At that time, he asked whether or not any of them ran for free without spending a penny.

"Please, governors, mayors, regents raise their hands, those who become governors without money," said Firli recounting the moment.

However, at that time no one wanted to raise their hand. "Nothing, sir. The regent raised his hand, there was no mayor, there was no mayor," he continued.

In fact, money politics should no longer exist. Firli said that this kind of practice was the beginning of the perpetuation of corruption among regional heads.

"In the executive, this should not happen in order to produce candidate leaders, political parties must be free from bribery to nominate their candidate leaders," he stressed.

"There can be no selling letters of recommendation," added Firli.

Furthermore, Firli also mentioned that the legislative power chamber is still often infiltrated by the practice of bribery. In fact, this kind of practice should not happen.

"There should be no drafting of regulations and laws, there should be no bribery, there should be no selection of candidates for judges, Supreme Court judges, Supreme Court judges, Constitutional Court judges, commissioners, corruption will occur. There should no longer be money knocking on hammers in the context of ratifying district and city budgets. , as well as the governor," he concluded.
