Acting Governor Paulus Waterpauw To Manokwari Regency Government, West Papua: So People Don't Be Pessimistic, Regional Development Must Accelerate

MANOKWARI - "So people should not be mediocre and don't be pessimistic. As long as there is power, there are positive thoughts, they will definitely be answered. We must support each other, complement each other so that everything can be realized for one goal, namely development and community welfare."

That was the message of the Acting Governor (Pj.) of West Papua Paulus Waterpauw when meeting with the ranks of the Manokwari Regency Government, Monday, July 11. The outline of Waterpauw's message is related to the direction and acceleration of development in West Papua.

All the potential that exists in the region must be utilized as much as possible for that purpose. "Manokwari is the face of West Papua Province, therefore the development of this area must be accelerated in terms of infrastructure and economy for the purpose of community welfare," said Paulus Waterpauw as quoted by Antara, Monday, July 11.

During the meeting, the Regent of Manokwari, Hermus Indou, explained to Paulus about a number of priority development programs which included national strategic projects.

"There is a project to extend the runway of the Rendani Airport, the construction of a central market and a number of other infrastructures, which we will support to accelerate the progress of Manokwari," he added.

He also encouraged the formation of a working team tasked with coordinating various priority and strategic programs in an effort to accelerate development in the capital city of West Papua Province.

"Immediately form a collaborative work team between the Manokwari Regional Government and the Province (West Papua) to synchronize the concept of development which is a priority scale and urgent to be realized," he stressed.

He asked his staff not to be pessimistic about what they would do together. All levels of the provincial and district governments must always think positively for the progress of development and the welfare of the people of West Papua.
