JAKARTA - Commission A of the DKI Jakarta DPRD summoned the Thousand Islands Regent Junaedi to discuss the evaluation and absorption of the second quarter 2022 budget. In this working meeting, the DPRD also highlighted the findings of a helicopter pad or helipad on Pulau Panjang.

This finding was highlighted by the Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Prasetyo Edi Marsudi. During an inspection some time ago, Prasetyo received a report that the helipad was often used by the private sector without paying any retribution. From this, it is concluded that its use is illegal.

Initially, Junaedi explained that the helipad had been built since 2005 by the local government with the aim of building a tourist destination. However, due to the development of legal problems, the area was abandoned.

However, now the helipad is being used by a number of private parties who own islands in the Thousand Islands without paying any retribution. Junaedi admitted that there was no withdrawal of fees because there were no regulations governing it.

"We report that there are no fees for landing helipads," said Junaedi at the Jakarta DPRD fedung, Monday, June 11.

Junaedi admitted that his party allowed the private sector to use the helipad because there was a reciprocity obtained by the Thousand Islands Regency Government. Junaedi said the private sector helped to beautify the area on Pulau Panjang.

"Yes, actually this is more about the worship of the island owners, assistance for the participation of residents in Jakarta. These donors built a mosque there in order to organize a religious tourism area that we have planned. We only welcome those who want to build a mosque," Junaedi explained.

Junaedi also claims that the use of the helipad without retribution has a number of benefits. Because, apart from being used by the private sector to ground their helicopters, this helipad has also been used by the TNI and Polri to send aid to disaster-affected residents.

"Yesterday also when there was a tornado on Kelapa Dua Island, thank God there was a helipad from the TNI that could carry basic necessities for emergencies," said Junaedi.

In the future, along with the implementation of tourist destinations on Long Island, Junaedi admitted that he wanted to apply for the withdrawal of levies collected from tourists. Later, the helipad can also be used by people who want to travel by helicopter to Panjang Island.

"Our goal, of course, is to attract tourists who want to come to the Thousand Islands by air. We hope that in the future, tourists can ride helicopters from Pondok Cabe or Halim Perdanakusuma to land at tourist destinations," he added.
