Cyclist Killed By Bus At Sunday Market, Transjakarta Says Driver Honked

JAKARTA - Head of the Transjakarta Corporate Secretary Division, Anang Rizkani Noor, explained the chronology of the accident involving a Transjakarta bus and a cyclist who died.

Anang explained, On Sunday, July 10 at 14:10 WIB, the bus had just started after stopping at the Attaqwa Mosque Bus Stop in the direction of Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.

He emphasized that the driver was driving the bus at a slow speed. Suddenly, from the right side a cyclist tried to overtake the bus. The driver also pressed the horn as a warning.

"The driver has honked his horn to give a warning. It is suspected that the speed and speed bumps were not taken into account, the cyclist lost his balance, so this incident was inevitable," said Anang in his statement, Monday, July 11.

After the incident, the victim's body was evacuated and taken to the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) for an autopsy. The victim's family can understand the incident.

Anang said that Transjakarta then reported the incident to the Pancoran Traffic Accident Unit to be processed according to regulations.

"PT Transport Jakarta expresses its condolences for the death of a cyclist who was hit by a Transjakarta bus operating on the Tanah Abang - Pasar Minggu route (9D) yesterday," he explained.

As is known, the traffic accident occurred at Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta on Sunday afternoon, July 10. A Transjakarta bus violated a bicycle, resulting in the rider with the initials SA being killed at the scene.

The accident started when the bicycle that SA was pedaling tried to overtake the Transjakarta bus, which was stopped at the bus stop. The bus driver with the initials N did not see the bicycle that SA was riding trying to overtake him. At the same time N runs the bus he is driving, while SA has not completely overtaken.

As a result, the right side of the Transjakarta bus collided with SA's bicycle. The cyclist fell, and his head hit the pavement. The collision caused SA to die at the scene.

"Currently, SA's body has been taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital for a post-mortem et repertum. Meanwhile, the bus driver is under investigation," said Head of the Laka Sub-Directorate of Gakkum Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya, Kompol Edy Purwanto in his statement.
