West Kalimantan Disinfectant Task Force Team of 1,800 Goats from NTT

PONTIANAK - The Nusa II Safety Task Force Team for Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) of the West Kalimantan Police sprayed disinfectant on as many as 1,800 goats from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) which had just arrived at the Pontianak Dwikora Port.

"The disinfectant spraying of 1,800 goats is to prevent the entry of FMD from outside into West Kalimantan", said Head of the Safe Nusa II FMD Team for the West Kalimantan Police AKBP Riki Renerika in Pontianak quoted by Antara, Saturday, July 9.

Prevention of the entry of animal FMD coming from outside the province, he said, is by spraying disinfectant on livestock and livestock transport vehicles.

The Nusa II Safe Task Force Team FMD West Kalimantan Police, Pontianak Polresta, and the Pontianak City Port Quarantine Team have confirmed that the goat loaded on the Motorcycle Ship (KM) Chaterine from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) is in good health.

Head of Task Force II for Handling FMD Pontianak Police AKP Samidi said that of the 1,800 goats that came, 120 died while on the way to Pontianak, leaving 1,680 heads that were immediately examined by the Pontianak City Port Quarantine Service, and all of them were declared not infected with FMD.

Furthermore, he said, the goats were immediately removed from the ship and loaded onto a truck to be transported to Ahmad's farm which is located at Selat Panjang Street, East Pontianak District.

"The goat loading and unloading event was attended by the Head of the Pontianak City Agriculture and Livestock Service Office, Bintoro, Head of Task Force II Aman Nusa II Regional Police of West Kalimantan, Head of the Pontianak Police Headquarters AKP Frits Orlando Siagian as Head of Planning and Control for Safe Operations Nusa II Pontianak Police.
