JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria views the implementation of the concept of transit-oriented development (TOD) in Jakarta as a source of regional income other than taxes.

He said this at the TOD Fair MRT Jakarta 2022 event. TOD itself is a city planning concept that integrates transportation sites, public spaces, settlements, and commercial areas.

"In the perspective of the provincial government, the TOD concept can boost regional income. With the TOD concept, it will have an impact on optimizing assets that have not been utilized properly. And this is an important point in increasing potential regional revenue sources other than tax revenues," said Riza at the Independent Tower Assembly Hall, Central Jakarta, Friday, July 8.

Riza claims that the community will strongly support development based on the TOD concept. Because, according to him, this is an effort to serve the people of Jakarta, so that in the future it can easily mobilize from one place to another.

In addition, TOD will provide a multiplier effect for local economy, where new spaces will become business contacts and good investment opportunities.

Furthermore, Riza views that Jakarta's efforts to beautify itself will also be realized if it is accompanied by the development of affordable housing in the TOD area, because it will encourage the realization of a new culture, namely a culture of walking, a culture of transit, and a culture that opens nodes in society.

"We will also continue to strive to improve the quality of life by providing space that can support the daily needs of passengers, pedestrians, workers, residents, and visitors through roads, plazas, and open spaces that can make a positive contribution to the identity and character of the TOD area," he added.
