JAKARTA - General Treasurer of the Central Leadership of the Youth Movement (GP) Ansor Addin Jaumaruddin said religious moderation is a very important movement because Indonesia needs young people across religions who understand religious interpretations in a moderate, visionary, and collaborative manner.

This was said by Addin while attending the XI Grand Meeting of the Youth Association of the Toraja Church (PPGT) in Bittang Class, Tana Toraja Regency, South Sulawesi. The activity was attended by Youth of the Toraja Church from 17 provinces, 90 klasis, and 25,000 members throughout Indonesia.

"This will be the capital of the integrity and progress of this nation in the future," Addin said in a statement received in Depok, West Java, quoted from Antara, Thursday, July 7.

Addin explained that the basic foundation of nation and state is diversity. Diversity that forms a human attitude, justice, civilization, and national unity as stated in Pancasila. According to him, religion has become an inspiration for humanity and culture.

"Love the diversity after all, we take care of and protect Indonesia. Never get tired of loving this country because this country has become a mecca for peace and world civilization. For the disruptors of the Republic of Indonesia and Pancasila, we fight together," he said.

Meanwhile, Billy Mambrasar added, PPGT is an example of Pemuda Church which also takes care of the nation's diversity.

"My appreciation for PPGT in Praya also presents Islamic organizations, such as GP Ansor, to be present together," said Billy.

The same thing was conveyed by Pastor Alfred. According to him, the title of the event explains a belief in how diversity is a gift from God that should be grateful for.

"Twenty-five thousand cadres are ready to send PPGT who are present in Praya and come from 17 provinces in Indonesia ready to participate in synergizing with all components of the nation to care for and continue to maintain the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," he explained.

He also appreciated the presence of the GP Ansor Central Executive Board and all the interfaith youth leaders who were present together in the Praya.

PPGT General Chair Jerry Paramba said Praya XI carries the topic of pluralism and religious moderation as stated in the theme "Creating Diversity, Cerebrating Communities".

This is a form of PPGT's real commitment to contribute to Indonesia and even to world peace.

"The presence of GP Ansor through Gus Addin is an honor and assurances PPGT that we can jointly care for Indonesia, strengthen the values of Pancasila," he said.
