JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) has expressed its readiness to ratify the Draft Regional Regulation (Raperda) on Amendments Number 10 of 2011 concerning the Implementation of Respect, Protection and Fulfillment of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Deputy Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Deliberative Body (Bamus) Misan Samsuri said the Raperda draft resulting from the discussion of the Regional Regulation Formation Agency (Bapemperda) would be reviewed in a joint leadership meeting (Rapimgab) on Monday, July 11.

The draft result from the Rapimgab will then be submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) for facilitation and harmonization. Furthermore, it will be re-evaluated by the DKI Jakarta DPRD, then it will be ratified in a plenary meeting scheduled to be held on August 3, 2022.

"With the stipulation, it is proof that the DKI Jakarta DPRD is committed to realizing equality for persons with disabilities. This is very important to convey the message that the DKI Jakarta Province creates equality and does not discriminate," said Misan as quoted by Antara.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of the Bapemperda of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Dedi Supriadi, welcomed the determination of the schedule scheduled by Bamus regarding the Raperda on Persons with Disabilities by containing 149 articles that had been mutually agreed upon at the time of the discussion.

"Our disabled Raperda knocked on the hammer last week. If you look at organizations with disabilities, they also continue to attend. They are also very happy when they discuss the article," he said.

"Furthermore, we will submit it to the Ministry of Home Affairs for facilitation and we ask to be accelerated, that is very good. So, in general, either they or I as a member of the Bamus and Deputy Bapemperda strongly agree to the agenda," he said.
