Highlights Of Citayam Residents Hanging Out In Dukuh Atas, Anies: I Terminate Democratization Of Jalan Jenderal Sudirman

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan highlighted the phenomenon of residents of Citayam, Bekasi, Bojonggede, and other buffer areas who often hang out in the Dukuh Atas area and along Jalan Jenderal Sudirman.

From this phenomenon, Anies has his own term, namely democratization of Jalan Jenderal Sudirman. Which means, the third space that equalizes all society.

"As an experience, anyone is welcome to come. I call the democratization of Jalan Jenderal Sudirman. Because it belongs to everyone, anyone can come and enjoy it," said Anies in the Thamrin Nine area, Central Jakarta, Thursday, July 7.

"It doesn't have to be those who are upper-middle socio-economically. In fact, the democratization that has taken place in this place can be enjoyed by anyone," Anies continued.

Anies said that several years ago, activities in the Sudirman area to the sidewalks for pedestrians were only filled by those who worked in regional offices. Until finally, Anies revitalized the sidewalks in the Sudirman-Thamrin area while serving as Governor of DKI Jakarta.

"What happened after the sidewalks were built? The sidewalks are very wide. What really happens is that not only those who work in this area can walk freely, but all Jabodetabek residents can enjoy the road with views of the only tall buildings in this republic," explained Anies.

Anies said that when designing the revitalization of this public space, Anies coordinated with the Jakarta Transportation Discussion Forum (FDTJ) to the skateboard community. The goal, said Anies, is to make this area a unifying third space.

Until finally, the phenomenon of youth associations from outside Jakarta emerged, such as Citayam in the Sudirman area. Anies asked all parties not to make an issue of this, as long as they can maintain cleanliness and order.

"Let this place be a meeting place from anywhere. Because, the third room is to unite and build a feeling of equality. So that's the background when the phenomenon that just appeared, the important thing is to keep clean, keep order. The rest, enjoy the third room together for all ," he added.

Recently, the Sudirman area has been in the spotlight. Young people from outside Jakarta such as Depok, Bogor, and Bekasi make this location their gathering place.

Not a few of the teenagers took pictures to create video content on their respective social media. They also maximize their appearance by preening and various styles of clothing.
