Dragged By Waves At Madasari Pangandaran Beach, 3 Teens Died, 1 Missing

BANDUNG - Basarnas Bandung said three tourists were declared dead while one was missing after being swept away by waves while swimming at Madasari Beach, Pangandaran Regency, West Java, Thursday, July 7 morning.

The head of the Bandung Basarnas, Jumaril, said a joint team had been dispatched to search for the whereabouts of tourists who were still reported missing in the Pangandaran waters.

"There was an accident that one tourist was swept away by the current at the Legok Jawa TPI, Madasari Beach, Cimerak District, Pangandaran Regency at 04.00 WIB this morning," he said in a press release received Thursday, July 7.

According to information compiled by the Bandung Basarnas, it is known that eight teenage tourists from Tasikmalaya City swam and were dragged by the waves in the Legok Jawa area, Madasari Beach.

A total of four people survived, while three people died, and one person is still being searched by joint officers.

"One of them was swept away by the coastal current and is currently still being searched for by the joint SAR team, while the victim data is not yet known," he said, according to Antara.

He said the joint team had started a search along the coast from the point where the victim was reported missing.

"The team will search around the LKP (last know position) as far as 1 KM," he added.

The SAR elements involved included the Pangandaran SAR Alert Unit, Pangandaran Police Satpolir, Pangandaran Koramil, Muara Gata SAR, MTA SAR, Legok Java FKDM, Legok Java HNSI SAR, Satpol PP and Pangandaran BPBD.
