Make Proud! KRI SIM-367 Personnel Receive German Shooting Cord 'Shooting' Brevet

JAKARTA - KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda-367 personnel who are currently carrying out their duties as the Maritime Task Force of the TNI Garuda Contingent XXVIII-M/UNIFIL received a German Shooting Cord brevet and rope.

This brevet was immediately attached by the MTF Commander, Rear Admiral Andreas Markus Mugge. According to Mugge, the personnel should maintain their quality in shooting and always show the best ability in carrying out their duties.

"Keep maintaining your quality because the KRI SIM-367 Soldier is my pride. Always show the best ability in every task and you must always maintain high sportsmanship, keep safety is paramount (put safety first) and zero accident (zero accidents)," said he was quoted in a written broadcast by the Indonesian Navy Information Service via Antara, Jakarta, Wednesday, July 6.

The brevet and talikur were given when the personnel of KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda-367 participated in the shooting qualification in the MTF UNIFIL X-Training Schützenschnur activity in Naqoura, Lebanon, last Wednesday.

Of the 28 Indonesian Navy personnel who were deployed, including the Commander of the Maritime Task Force of the Garuda Contingent XXVIII-M/UNIFIL, Lieutenant Colonel (P) Abdul Haris, 23 of them received gold medals and five others received silver medals.

The Schützenschnur is part of the marks of marksmanship of the German Armed Forces, which is an award usually given to German military soldiers who are capable and excel in shooting using firearms with qualification levels including gold, silver and bronze.

Then, the X-Training activity was an honor and opportunity given by Mugge as a high-ranking German military officer to KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda-367 soldiers to show their shooting skills in order to give the best performance on behalf of the Indonesian nation in the international arena.

The X-Training activity was carried out for three consecutive days using original German-made weapons, namely the HK P8 pistol and the HK G36 assault rifle. The activity begins with an introduction to the weapons and shooting positions that will be used during the qualification.

On the following day, all soldiers of KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda-367 carried out the qualification and assessment of shooting 15 P8 H&K at the UNIFIL shooting range, Lebanon.

Then, on the last day, 28 personnel of KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda-367 carried out qualification and shooting assessments using 30 G36s.

The involvement of the Navy in the UNIFIL X-Training MTF activities is aimed at building bonds between soldiers and their weapons, increasing professionalism, and strengthening cooperative relations.

Externally, this activity aims to increase the role of the Navy's diplomacy, in accordance with the priorities of the Navy Chief of Staff, Admiral Yudo Margono.
