BPBD Lebak Records Natural Disaster Losses Reaches IDR 7,762 Billion

LEBAK - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Lebak Regency recorded the value of losses due to natural disasters reaching Rp. 7,762 billion and three people were reported to have died.

"We help repair roads, bridges and houses, but the construction of permanent housing (huntap) is returned to the central government," said Head of the Emergency and Logistics Section of the Lebak Regency BPBD Agus Reza Faisal in Lebak, Wednesday.

Natural disasters in Lebak Regency during January to June 2022 recorded 277 incidents and the last time there was ground movement in Cilangkap District, six houses were badly damaged and 46 families in Cikulur fled to the homes of their parents and relatives.

The Lebak Regency Government has repaired damaged houses, bridge infrastructure and roads. Apart from that, it has also distributed housing waiting fund (DTH) assistance of Rp. 3 million/family to rent a house as well as providing logistical material assistance to meet food consumption needs.

Meanwhile, the construction of shelters that reached hundreds of houses was returned to the central government.

"I don't think the regional government will be able to realize the construction of temporary shelters if it is imposed on the regions," he explained.

The local government is currently repairing the collapsed roads in the sub-districts of Kalanganyar, Bojongmanik and Cikulur.

It is most likely that the road segment by the end of July 2022 will be operational again to access traffic flow.

"We hope that private companies in this area will participate in distributing aid to reduce the economic burden of residents affected by natural disasters," he explained.

Meanwhile, a number of victims of land movement in Lebak Regency admitted that their consumption and logistics needs were met after being distributed by the local BPBD.

In addition, residents whose houses were heavily damaged received DTH of Rp. 3 million/family and 70 meters of inter-village roads were repaired by the local government.

"We hope that the residents here who are victims of moving land will receive assistance in building a temporary shelter," said Udin (60), a resident of Cilangkap, Lebak Regency.
