GORONTALO - North Gorontalo Regent Tariq Modanggu considers the simultaneous village head elections (pilkades) in the area to be safe and smooth.

"We are grateful that the community has proven that they are able to work together in maintaining regional security and order during the simultaneous pilkades in 34 villages spread across 11 sub-districts," he said in Gorontalo, Antara, Tuesday, July 5.

Although this democratic process takes place at the village level, it has attracted the attention of the people in each region. Crowds of people came in droves to the polling stations (TPS), and even sat faithfully waiting for the results of the counting results.

"I also monitored the implementation in Kwandang District, after monitoring the readiness of the village head election in the western part of the district, namely Tolinggula District the previous day," he said.

The regional government appreciates the implementation of the democratic process at the forefront of regional government that can take place in an orderly and successful manner.

The good democratic process, said Tariq, is special because it has given birth to a new leader in the village chosen by the people.

Of course, it is hoped that we can collaborate with the people to advance the village.

"The village head is chosen by the people, whoever is elected is born from the people's choice. So we must be optimistic that we will be able to work together to advance the village and carry out the best work in an effort to accelerate regional progress starting from the village," he said.

He hopes that this situation can be maintained until the simultaneous general elections (elections) are held in 2024.

A total of 34 villages out of 123 villages carried out the Pilkades simultaneously and were generally considered successful.

"I hope that there is no excessive euphoria of victory because this democratic process should be grateful for as part of the running of local government at the village level," he added.
