Traffic Engineering At The HI Roundabout Is Necessary, The Number Of Vehicles Passing Has Passed 97 Thousand

JAKARTA - The DKI Transportation Agency noted that the traffic volume of two-way vehicles at the Hotel Indonesia (HI) roundabout increased by an average of nine percent per week. The latest data on June 23-30 2022 even reached almost 98 thousand vehicles.

"So a comprehensive traffic management is needed through traffic engineering trials at the HI Roundabout," said the Daily Executor of the Head of Traffic Division of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Service, Emanuel Kristanto in Jakarta, Tuesday, July 5, quoted from Antara.

With traffic engineering from the direction of Senayan or from south to Harmoni or north, it will have an impact on traffic around Simpang Sarinah and Kebon Sirih.

To anticipate this, the DKI Jakarta Transportation Service (Dishub) has prepared two options, namely rotating at the Horse Statue Roundabout.

In addition, when the traffic volume at the Horse Statue Roundabout is already congested, it is diverted to rotate in front of the Ministry of Transportation or on Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat.

The DKI Transportation Agency targets traffic engineering to unravel congestion due to crossing traffic flows in the HI Roundabout area through traffic engineering trials on July 4-10 2022. Traffic engineering trials are carried out at 16.00-21.00 WIB.

Traffic crossings that often cause traffic jams at the HI Roundabout, namely traffic flow from the north (Jalan Thamrin) to the south or Jalan Sudirman which crosses between vehicles from south to east, namely Jalan Imam Bonjol.

For this reason, in the trial of traffic engineering, the flow of vehicles from Jalan Jenderal Sudirman going to Jalan Imam Bonjol was directed to make a U-turn at the Horse Statue Roundabout or another option to rotate at the Ministry of Transportation.

This means that vehicles from the south are straightened to the north on Jalan Thamrin and then turn back at the Horse Statue.

Then, traffic flow from Jalan Imam Bonjol that wants to go north, namely Jalan Thamrin is directed to make a U-turn to the south via Jalan Galunggung then through Jalan Sudirman and continue north.

Traffic engineering is excluded for TransJakarta public transportation and vehicles carrying VIPs.
