Wow! A 17-meter Wide Wall Collapses When The East Jakarta SDA Sub-Department Is Working On A Waterway Dredging Project In Cakung

JAKARTA - A 17-meter wall belonging to an electrical equipment shop on Jalan Raya Bekasi, Cakung, East Jakarta suddenly collapsed on Monday, July 4.

Allegedly, the collapse of the building on the left side of the electrical equipment shop was due to the PHB channel dredging program in Gang Air Tawar, RT 07/01, Rawa Teratai Village, Cakung District, East Jakarta.

Head of RT 07/01 Rawa Teratai Village, Susilowati, said that the electrical appliance shop wall collapsed at around 16.30 WIB. Susilowati said that the cause of the collapse was due to the excavation of a water channel carried out by the East Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-Department.

"It happened at 16.30. Since this morning there has been excavation (of the water channel), indeed the condition of this house has no foundation. Once it collapses, everything immediately collapses," Susilowati told VOI at the scene, Monday, July 4, evening.

Furthermore, Susilowati said that the excavation (water channel) was done manually, not using heavy excavators.

"Manual excavation. Work from the SDA Sub-Department. The channel width is 40 centimeters, the connecting channel is a maximum of 50 centimeters (width)," he said.

Susilowati emphasized that the drainage of the mud in the waterways was carried out because the area around RW 01 often flooded when it rained. Then there is the repair of clogged drains.

"My area often floods, if it doesn't rain it still gets clogged. (Earlier) I'm repairing clogged drains," he explained.

He stated that as a result of the repair of the water channel, only one building was damaged because the walls collapsed.

"Only one (collapsed), between 17 meters long. (Electricity shop) Belongs to Herman, a power source shop," he concluded.
