MAGETAN - The Magetan Resort Police (Polres) handled the case of the death of a tourist due to a rock falling from a cliff while traveling at the Tirtosari Waterfall tourist attraction in Sarangan Village, Plaosan District, Magetan Regency, East Java on Sunday (3/7).
The head of the Plaosan Sector Police, AKP Joko Yuhono, said that the results of the investigation of the crime scene found that the incident was purely due to natural factors. Namely, a rock about the size of a human head fell from a 20-meter-high waterfall cliff and then successively hit three tourists who were playing in the water below, causing one of them to die.
"This incident was purely due to natural factors. The stone fell off the cliff and then hit the tourists. It was first noticed by an ojek driver and then reported to Perhutani officers and the Police post in Sarangan. Then, the victims were evacuated to Plaosan Health Center and then referred to RSUD Dr. Sayidiman," said AKP Joko Yuhono as reported by Antara, Monday, July 4.
According to him, as a result of the incident, three tourists were injured. Then, one of the tourists died while traveling and was referred from the Plaosan Health Center to Dr Sayidiman Magetan Hospital.
