High DHF Cases In Asmat, Papua Provincial Government Urges To Form Emergency Team

JAYAPURA - The Papuan Provincial Government through the local Health Office encourages the Asmat Regency Government to immediately form a rapid response team to prevent dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF).

The head of the Papua Provincial Health Office, Robby Kayame in Jayapura, Monday, July 4, said that to ascertain which areas were affected by dengue fever, he had not received a detailed report from the Asmat Regency Government.

"We don't know clearly how the condition of the area is, for that the plan will send a team to find out the conditions in the district," he said, quoted by Antara.

According to a report from the Head of the Asmat District Health Office, there were 45 cases of DHF and a suspect with a death rate of 1 child.

"We don't know yet in which district, we were just informed that there was dengue fever but we didn't say in certain villages how many people were affected, how many were treated, how many were sick, how old were they and how many died, so far this has not been announced," he said.

He explained that his party is currently preparing medicines and other equipment for abate, fogging and all the equipment needed to control DHF in Asmat.

"We have ordered the P2P Head of the Papua Provincial Health Office, Dr. Aaron Rumainum, to prepare equipment and other necessities in controlling dengue fever and then go down to Asmat, while waiting for a report from the Asmat Regency," he said.

He added that with the formation of a rapid response team, it is hoped that this outbreak of dengue fever can be quickly resolved so that no more people die.
