Formula E Jakarta 2023 So Held At Night? This Is What The Committee Said

JAKARTA - The Jakarta Formula E executive committee had a discussion about wanting to hold a night race in the implementation of Formula E next year.

Currently, the provisional calendar for Formula E's ninth season has come out. Jakarta gets a two-day race slot. Then, will the night race be held?

VP Communication Organizing Committee Formula E Jakarta, Iman Sjafei admitted that he could not confirm that there would be a night race next year. However, Jakarta has opened the narrative to the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and Formula E Operation.

"Indeed, there is a possibility of a night race. Because of us, we have started to ask what the requirements (illustrations) are for the night race. They have also started sending pictures for the lights, resource requirements, and others," said Iman when contacted, Monday, July 4th.

However, the BUMD PT Jakpro as the organizer and the committee has not yet decided whether to hold a night race or not. Remembering, said Iman, there needs to be careful consideration because there are technical differences in holding races during the day and at night.

"Now there is no confirmation because we are still studying the technicalities and everything, including the price, will definitely be different. For the lights, it's really complicated. We really want a night race, because it's definitely cool, right," he continued.

Therefore, Iman said that his party still has a deadline until September 2022 to decide the technical race that will be carried out in the ninth season in 2023.

Including, the committee will simultaneously decide whether to accept the title race for two days or not. As is known, the FIA has issued a provisional calendar for the ninth season of Formula E and Jakarta has a two-day slot for racing.

Previously, the chairman of the Jakarta Formula E Executive Committee, Ahmad Sahroni, said there were plans to hold a race at night next season. This was conveyed by Sahroni at the Meet and Greet event with Formula E drivers in Jakarta on Thursday, June 2 2022.

He believes the plan will definitely be approved by all the riders. "Next year we hope there will be a night race. Drivers will always agree," he said.

Sahroni said that he and his team wanted the plan to be realized so that other people who enjoyed racing from the screen could enjoy the beauty of Jakarta at night.

"There is something interesting, why I suggested next year's night race. Because we took photos at night and the view (of Jakarta) was very good. As a Jakarta person, I saw it was fantastic. That's why I want a night race next year," said Sahroni.

Meanwhile, the Chief Competition Officer of Formula E (E-Prix) welcomed the idea of holding a race at night in Jakarta next season. It's just that there has been no final decision about it.

"We have not decided anything for the night race, but we are very excited if the race is held at night next year," said Alberto.
