JAKARTA - At the Maryinsky Palace, Kyiv, June 29, 2022, President Joko Widodo offered to bring a message from the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky to President Vladirmir Putin.

President Jokowi made this statement after holding a closed meeting with Zelensky in Kyiv, late last month.

Jokowi's arrival to Kyiv has indeed attracted public attention. Indonesia, through Jokowi, wants to find a solution to the protracted conflict on Ukrainian soil.

The war did not only bring chaos to the Ukrainian people. But more than that, the whole world was hit hard, especially in the energy and food sectors.

Jokowi emphasized that his visit to Ukraine was a tangible form of Indonesia's concern for the situation in the country. Jokowi also specifically invited Ukraine to come to Indonesia to participate in the G20 Summit which will be held in November this year in Bali.

President Jokowi's full statement has been posted on the official Secretariat website. We will rewrite in detail Jokowi's full speech.

President Zelenskyy, thank you for accepting my visit and the limited delegation in Kyiv, in the midst of this difficult situation. I conveyed to President Zelenskyy that I made this visit as a manifestation of Indonesia's concern for the situation in Ukraine.

From the bilateral meeting, I would like to convey several things. First, I reiterate my invitation to President Zelenskyy directly to participate in the G20 Summit which will be held in November this year in Bali.

Second, I emphasize Indonesia's principle position regarding the importance of respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Third, although it is still very difficult to achieve, I still convey the importance of a peaceful settlement and the spirit of peace must never fade. In this regard, I offer to carry a message from President Zelenskyy to President Putin whom I will meet soon.

Fourth, I convey my empathy and concern for the impact of war on humanity. With existing capabilities, the people and government of Indonesia are trying to contribute assistance, including medicine and a commitment to the reconstruction of a hospital around Kyiv.

Fifth, I convey the importance of Ukraine to the world food supply chain. All efforts must be made so that Ukraine can resume exporting food. It is important for all parties to provide security guarantees for the smooth export of Ukrainian food, including through sea ports. I support the efforts of the United Nations (United Nations) in this regard.

The sixth, on bilateral note, this year is 30 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Ukraine. I conveyed Indonesia's commitment to continue to strengthen cooperation with Ukraine.
