15 Crew Of KM Setia Makmur 06 Ship Reported Missing In Arafura Sea

JAKARTA - As many as 15 of the 25 crew members of the KM Setia Makmur 06 ship were reported missing in the Arafura Sea. A joint SAR team has been deployed to search for the missing victims.

The head of Merauke SAR Supriyanto Ridwan, citing Antara, Sunday, July 3, confirmed the sinking of KM Setia Makmur 06 which was reported on Saturday (July 2) night.

The disappearance of 15 crew members of KM Setia Makmur 06 was reported by another fishing boat in the vicinity of the incident, to the ship's management in Dobo. Receiving the report, the Merauke SAR Team coordinated with related parties to conduct a search.

From the ship's letter, it was revealed that the ill-fated ship was a ship used to fish for squid with a crew of 25 crew members.

"The ship departed from the dock in Dobo on June 24, headed to the waters of Arafura to fish for squid and if it is calculated from the coast of Dolok Island to the point of the accident the ship is about 115 kilometers away," Supriyanto explained.

After receiving the report, continued Supriyanto, coordination was carried out with various SAR potentials including with potential assets that were in the vicinity of the accident site.

There were three fishing boats closest to the incident point, namely KM Sinar Mas 01, KM Jaya Sejahtera and KM Pulau Muara, which were reported to have started their livelihoods.

It was reported that 10 crew members were found safe around the scene and at that time were evacuated to KM Sinar Mas 01.

KRI Teluk Weda which is in Bintuni Bay and KRI Teluk Weda have been deployed to the scene to carry out search operations, explained Supriyanto Ridwan who was contacted from Jayapura.

The names of the crew members who survived were Rusli, Dedi Riyanto, Subekhi, Agus Priyono, Diroh, Dian Andreansyah, Mubarok, Jaeni, Ali, Sodikin and Hanif Setiawan.
