Anies Builds Gembrong Market Village Using Infak Funds, Deputy Governor: For Community Interests, No Problem

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan rebuilt a village in Pasar Gembrong, East Jakarta that was burned down using infaq funds collected from the Jakarta Baznas Baziz.

Responding to this, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said the village development from the infaq funds collected during Eid prayers was not a problem because it was in the interest of the community.

"As long as the infaq funds are used for the public interest, there is no problem," said Riza at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, July 1.

According to him, the infaq funds are indeed used for general needs, such as mosque operations to repairing places of worship. It is another matter if the infaq funds are used for personal interests or the construction of a building such as a stadium.

"The JIS development does not use infaq funds. Infaq can be used for the benefit of people in need. Incidentally, if indeed in Gembrong Market there is a need, I don't think there is anything wrong, so far everything is very open and transparent," he said.

Previously, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan carried out the groundbreaking process for the Gembrong Market area, East Jakarta, which caught fire at the end of April.

Anies named the Gembrong Market area which was starting to be rebuilt with the name Gembira Gembrong Village. There are 136 units which will later be built on an area of 1,200 square meters at a cost of Rp7.8 billion.

This village development budget is a collective result collected by the DKI Jakarta Baznas Bazis, especially during the collection of infaq and sadaqah during the Eid prayer at JIS in early May.

"Those gathered in this place are all of us who with faith, God willing, will be able to rebuild this Gembrong Village. In fact, the plan for naming it is Gembira Gembrong Village, to show the joy of joy that will be in this village," Anies said at the location.
