JAKARTA - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo has boosted the injection of booster doses of vaccine in Central Java to protect the public from the new variant of COVID-19.

"Now we are increasing the booster again because there is a new variant which God willing is not as violent as the previous variant, but we must not be careless, so we and the Health Office are assisted by the TNI-Polri working together, and now in Sukoharjo from the puskesmas, from all districts. move so that all of our friends and relatives can be boosted," said Ganjar in his statement, Friday, July 1.

The coverage of booster vaccination in Central Java currently reaches 23.75 percent, the five regions with the highest coverage include Surakarta City 57.42 percent, Semarang City 50.14 percent, Magelang City 45.42 percent.

The areas in Central Java with the lowest coverage were Tegal Regency 12.78 percent, Magelang Regency 13.82 percent, and Pemalang Regency 14.88 percent.

"The total in Central Java is 23.75 percent, the Sukoharjo area itself is 29.75 percent," said Ganjar.

The target is still too low for Central Java, so he asked the Health Office to boost it again by communicating it steadily with districts/cities so that booster doses of vaccination can be increased.

"I think it's still too low, so why are we increasing it now. Yesterday the central government was reminded so that we immediately inject booster vaccines so that later activities will run normally," Ganjar continued.

Ganjar said that the booster vaccination will continue to run well with the hope that the residents will become stronger so that any variant can be prevented.

He also reminded the public not to lose control, especially for themselves, in their daily activities to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

"But it can't be separated from the way we control ourselves. For example, there is a crowd, he wears a mask. Like others, the virus is related to the immune system, so live a healthy, clean and healthy life, exercise, and eat nutritious food that doesn't have to be expensive. That way, God willing," he said.

According to Ganjar, the current healthy lifestyle is good enough and has become a habit for residents during the COVID-19 pandemic, so it must also be maintained properly and not be careless.

"Now the tradition of washing hands has become a habit. People use hand sanitizers (hand sanitizers), wash their hands with soap, this habit if you continue to do it will help. For example, in front of the entrance there is a hand washing area," he said.
