PKB Chooses Gerindra For Coalition, PKS Intensive Communication With NasDem And Democrats

JAKARTA - The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) congratulates the formation of the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition which was built by the Gerindra Party and the National Awakening Party (PKB).

PKS spokesman Muhammad Kholid said that his party respected PKB's choice to continue its cooperation with Gerindra, even though they had explored a coalition with PKS. Kholid emphasized that both PKB and Gerindra were PKS friends.

"For PKS, Gerindra and PKB are friends. And we respect the coalition's decision," Kholid told reporters, Friday, July 1.

Kholid said that so far, PKS has not yet decided whether it will form a coalition with any party. Because he said, the decision of the coalition will be determined by the PKS Syuro Council.

"Until now, PKS has not decided which party it will form a coalition with, because the authority lies with the Shura Council," he said.

However, Kholid admitted that PKS was trying to close itself to the NasDem Party and the Democratic Party (PD). Even the three political parties have intensively communicated and met.

"Until now, PKS is still communicating with various other political parties. One of them that we are currently intensively establishing is NasDem and Democrats," he concluded.

Previously, the Deputy Chairperson of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Jazilul Fawaid confirmed that his party was in a coalition with the Gerindra Party for the 2024 presidential election.

"Yes, the coalition," said Jazilul when confirmed, Friday, July 1.

Jazilul mentioned the name of the inter-party coalition chaired by Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) and Prabowo Subianto called the Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition.

"The Greater Indonesia Awakening Coalition," he said.
