JAKARTA - The Regent of the Thousand Islands, Junaedi admitted that his party will ask the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan to apply a levy withdrawal for ships that dock and helicopters that land in the Thousand Islands.

This he revealed after the discovery of helipads whose use by the private sector did not have a permit. This helipad is in the spotlight of the Chairperson of the DKI Jakarta DPRD.

"Later, we will submit a letter to the Governor on how to get revenue from user fees like cars on land. Just two hours of parking the car is already tens of thousands," Junaedi told reporters, Thursday, June 30.

So far, Junaedi admitted that privately owned boats and tourist services have never been charged when entering the islands in the Thousand Islands because there are no regulations governing the levy.

However, before implementing the retribution, Junaedi said the DKI Provincial Government would first develop tourism facilities and infrastructure in the Thousand Islands.

"I am oriented to basic needs first. First, we will beautify the existing dock. Of the 6 docks, currently no repairs have been made, that is the priority," said Junaedi.

"Later, after the dock repairs have been carried out, there is a levy that we can take. The Regent has proposed. The decision maker is at the regional revenue office (DKI Regional Revenue Agency)," he continued.

Meanwhile, regarding the use of helipads on Panjang Island which is considered by the Chairman of the DKI DPRD, Prasetyo Edi Marsudi, to be illegal, Junaedi did not deny that the airstrip is also sometimes used to bait tourists who want to visit the Thousand Islands.

The airstrip used to feed tourists from Halim Airport and Pondok Cabe, so people who want to go to the island who are afraid of waves can use the helicopter option.

However, the Thousand Islands Regency Government does not charge a levy for every helicopter that lands. "There is no retribution, there is no parking fee. Because we are afraid. The retribution must use local regulations (perda)," he said.

Moreover, he continued, at the airstrip at most in a month there were only two to three landings.
