Wrong Direction Of Western Economy Disrupts Global Agricultural Production, President Putin: We Are Ready To Meet Indonesian Farmers' Demand

JAKARTA - Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the West's economic misdirection caused global agricultural production when he met President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the Kremlin, Thursday, stating that he was ready to meet the demands of Indonesian farmers.

In a warm meeting President Putin said, Russia has been and remains one of the world's main producers and exporters of food products. Shipments of Russian agricultural products are said to be carried out to 161 countries in the world.

Last year, he continued, more than 43 million tons of grain were exported, of which only wheat reached 33 million tons. This year we expect a good grain harvest, which will give us the opportunity to increase our supply to overseas markets by up to 50 million tons of suitable products.

"In the same way, we are ready to fully meet the demands of farmers from Indonesia and other friendly countries for nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium fertilizers and raw materials for their production," said President Putin, as reported by Kremlin.ru July 1.

"As you know, Russia's share in the world market of mineral fertilizers is 11 percent, and for some items it exceeds 20 percent. Last year, 37 million tons of this product were shipped abroad," he continued.

On the same occasion, President Putin said that Western countries, who do not want to admit the wrong direction of their economy, are increasingly disrupting global agricultural production by imposing restrictions on the supply of Russian and Belarusian fertilizers.

"This makes it difficult to export Russian grain to world markets, complicating bulk insurance. carriers transporting grain and making bank payments under trade contracts," he criticized.

Nevertheless, President Putin underlined that Russia intends to continue to fulfill our contractual obligations in good faith for the supply of food, fertilizers, as well as carriers of energy and other essential goods.

"In this case, we consider it very important to restore supply chains that were violated by sanctions," he said.

President Putin appreciated the visit and discussion of the two leaders which he considered productive. He is sure that the agreement reached from the meeting will further strengthen the Russia-Indonesia partnership.

It is known that President Jokowi arrived in Russia, Thursday, June 30, 2022, aboard the Garuda Indonesia GIA-1 aircraft which landed at Vnukovo II Airport at around 11.00 local time. The day before, Jokowi had just met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Maryinsky Palace, Kyiv.

After meeting President Putin, President Jokowi's entourage departed for Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates from Vnukovo II Airport, Moscow, Russia using the Garuda Indonesia GIA-1 aircraft.
