After Investigation Completed, Roy Suryo Asked 18 Questions And Dismantled The Account Owner's Data Of Jokowi's Face Stupa Meme Which Was Reported

JAKARTA - The former Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Roy Suryo has completed his examination as a reporting witness in the case of the Borobudur Temple stupa meme. During the investigation, the police asked dozens of questions about the three Twitter accounts he reported.

"I was asked about 18 questions, specifically about the 3 accounts," said Roy Suryo to reporters, Thursday, June 30.

To investigators, Roy explained all things related to the three accounts. Starting from the time of upload to the identity of the account owner.

"I didn't just mention the name of the account, I didn't just mention the date on which he posted it, but tracked his digital footprint. So the name of the original person (on) the first account that uploaded on June 7, 2022 was already known by the police," he said.

"Complete with his phone number, complete with what profession he is, complete with his photo, and complete with his nickname in the Whatsapp group, everything is clear," continued Roy Suryo.

Meanwhile, Roy Suryo's attorney as well as the reporter in this case, Pitra Romadoni said that in addition to providing information, he submitted evidence that his client was not the first person to upload the meme.

"We have provided some evidence from the Twitter account which we think was the first to edit the photo of the Borobudur Temple stupa meme, at the same time we have also provided some evidence to investigators to support the police report," said Pitra.

Roy Suryo reported three Twitter accounts to Polda Metro Jaya. The report is the aftermath of the emergence of memes about the Borobudur Temple stupa being similar to President Jokowi's face.

Roy Suryo's report is registered with Number LP/B/2970/VI/2022/SPKT/Polda Metro Jaya. The reported party is suspected of violating Article 28 Paragraph 2 Juncto Article 45 Paragraph 2 of the ITE Law regarding hate speech.
