KPK Auctions Ahmad Fathanah's House In Depok

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is auctioning a house belonging to a convict in the bribery case for handling beef import quotas at the Ministry of Agriculture, Ahmad Fathanah. This booty is auctioned with a close bidding system or without the presence of participants.

"KPK together and through the intermediary of the Bogor State Property and Auction Service Office (KPKNL) will conduct an auction of state confiscated goods without the presence of auction participants with the type of auction bid via the internet or close bidding," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Sector Ali Fikri in a written statement, Thursday, June 30.

The auction was carried out in accordance with the decision of the Supreme Court (MA) RI Number 1148 K/Pid.Sus/2014 dated September 17, 2014. The house belonging to Fathanah, continued Ali, is in the Depok area, precisely Perum Permata Depok Diamond Sector 2 H-02 Plot Number 5.

"(The house, red) is equipped with the original Building Use Rights Certificate (HGB) Number 01723," he said.

The auction will be held on Thursday, July 14 and the bidding deadline is at 11.15 WIB server time. Ali said the limit price for the house was Rp. 1,138,034,000 and interested parties had to pay a security deposit of Rp. 350 million.

For those interested or potential bidders, said Ali, they can see the house on Monday, July 11, from 12.00 WIB to 14.00 WIB.

Ahmad Fathanah is serving a 16-year prison sentence and a fine of Rp. 1 billion because his appeal was rejected by the Supreme Court. In the first instance, the entrepreneur's sentence was only sentenced to 14 years, which was later increased by two years to 16 years when he appealed to the Jakarta High Court.

In addition to bribery, Ahmad Fathanah was also proven guilty of money laundering (TPPU). In this case, he received a bribe of Rp. 1.3 billion for the administration of increasing the beef import quota and for money laundering.
