JAKARTA - A Chinese company has signed an investment cooperation agreement with its partner in Indonesia to invest in the health sector in East Java.

The signing of a cooperation agreement between the chairman of the China-Asia Economic Development Association (CAEDA) Yang Guanglin and the President Commissioner of PT Makmur Berkah Sehat Johan Tedja Surya witnessed by the Indonesian Ambassador to China, Djauhari Oratmangun in Beijing, Wednesday 29 June.

"This agreement marks the start of a new collaboration between CAEDA and PT Makmur Berkah Sehat to contribute to strengthening Indonesia's health sector development," said Djauhari quoted from Antara.

He saw that this collaboration was carried out at the right moment when the Indonesian government was committed to building a strong health infrastructure after the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We hope that concrete action will start soon and the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing will facilitate cooperation after this agreement is reached in accordance with the needs of the Indonesian people," he said.

Meanwhile, Yang Guanglin considers Indonesia as one of China's important partners in the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation.

"Since planning this cooperation, CAEDA has not only received support from the Chinese government, but also the full support of the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing and our partners in Indonesia, thus providing confidence for the continuation of cooperation between the two parties in the future," he said.

Johan Tedja expressed his appreciation for reaching an agreement with CAEDA and promised to immediately follow up on the cooperation with his partner by building a medical device production plant in an industrial area in East Java.

Djauhari is optimistic that CAEDA's collaboration with Makmur Berkah Sehat will be an important part of the Indonesian government's efforts to develop the medical device industry from upstream to downstream.
