JAKARTA - Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) has highlighted that the former legislative candidate (caleg) Harun Masiku has not been arrested for 900 days. Against this spotlight, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) admitted to being confused.

Through theatrical action, ICW criticized Harun Masiku, who was the briber of the former General Elections Commission (KPU) Commissioner, Wahyu Setiawan. In fact, ICW Coordinator Kurnia Ramadhana assessed that the KPK was not actually trying to find Harun.

"We are very sure that Harun Masiku was never actually wanted by the KPK," said Kurnia after holding a theatrical action at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, June 28.

Kurnia even assessed that Firli Bahuri and officials from the anti-corruption commission had only made rhetorical statements about the search for Harun. "A number of previous KPK fugitives who could be arrested by the KPK, one of them is the former General Treasurer of the Democratic Party M. Nazaruddin if I'm not mistaken (arrested, ed) within 77 days," said the anti-corruption activist.

"It's been 900 days, why can't the KPK be arrested (Harun Masiku, ed)? We are absolutely sure that until the end of Firli Bahuri's term of office, Harun Masiku will never be caught by the KPK," continued Kurnia.

Hearing this statement, Acting Spokesperson for the KPK for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, admitted he was confused. According to him, there are actually many fugitives from the anti-corruption commission that are trying to be pursued besides Harun.

"Why does ICW only focus on the fugitive Harun Masiku? For us, it is equally important for all of the cases where the suspect is a DPO to be found and resolved immediately," Ali said in a written statement to reporters, Wednesday, June 29.

Ali emphasized that the KPK is committed to finding the fugitives and bringing them to trial. However, this effort certainly helps the community by providing information.

"Anyone who has the latest information and data and it is submitted to the KPK, we will definitely follow up," he said.

"We make sure that the KPK continues to search for the DPOs, both those set since 2017 and 2020," Ali added.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Harun Masiku as a suspect in giving bribes to KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan since January 2020. This bribery was carried out so that he would have the convenience of sitting as a member of the DPR RI through time shifts or PAW.

Harun's escape began when the KPK carried out an arrest operation regarding this case on January 8, 2020. In the silent operation, the KPK named four suspects, namely Harun Masiku, Wahyu Setiawan, former Bawaslu Member Agustiani Tio Fridelina, and Saeful Bahri.

It's just that Aaron, who was not caught by OTT, is unknown. He reportedly fled to Singapore and is said to have returned to Indonesia.

Apart from Harun, there are actually three other fugitives who have not been caught. They are Surya Darmadi who has been on the run since 2019; Izil Azhar has been a fugitive since 2018; and Kirana Kotama who has been fugitive since 2017.
