BOGOR - Bogor City Police arrested five perpetrators of bullying a teenager with the initials FC (15) by five of his friends around Taman Sempur, Central Bogor District, which went viral on social media.
The Head of Bogor City Police, Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro, said that since the video started circulating on social media, police officers immediately investigated the bullying until they finally received a report and arrested the perpetrators.
"Since it was crowded on social media, we immediately conducted an investigation regarding the place, the perpetrator and the victim. And on Monday (27/6) the parents of the victim, namely FC (14) the victim of bullying from the video, arrived," he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, 29 June.
Kombes Susatyo said that based on the results of the investigation and reports from the parents of the victims, the police found the location of bullying in the lower alley of Jalan Sempur, bordering the Bogor Botanical Gardens and Taman Sempur, so that it was not easily seen by the public.
The five arrested perpetrators namely SL (17), JR (12), DS (14), CC (14) and PT (14) carried out acts of bullying against FC on Sunday (26/6) at 14.00 WIB.
Both the victim and the perpetrator are known to be in a WhatsApp social media group called Al Empang Pusat. The bullying occurred because SL and JR were previously accused by FC victims of being a factor in disputes with other groups.
The two perpetrators who were also friends in the same group with FC had tried three times to try to clarify but the victim didn't listen, until finally SL and JR along with other friends bullied FC.
In this bullying case, said Susatyo, the video recorder as well as the owner of the social media account that uploaded the bullying actions of the teenage girls, with the initials MT and three other witnesses were examined and the police secured the mobile phones and clothes of the perpetrators.
Susatyo hopes that this incident will become a lesson together with supervision and education from the family as the main thing to prevent social irregularities.
"There is evidence, there is also post-mortem evidence. Together with the Class II A and P2TP2A prisons, we will do a diversion, because in the Child Protection Act the main thing is the interests of the child," he said.
