JAKARTA - The National Police Commission has asked the National Police to evaluate and educate and supervise all members who are allowed to use firearms.

With tighter supervision, Kompolnas hopes that abuse and negligence, such as what happened to Buya Arrazy Hasyim's son, can be avoided.

"There needs to be an evaluation, as well as education and supervision, including sanctions if something goes wrong as a deterrent effect," said Kompolnas member Poengky Indarti when confirmed in Jakarta, Friday, June 24, quoted from Antara.

Kompolnas regretted the incident where Buya Arrazy Hasyim's son died because he was shot by a gun belonging to his bodyguard. The gun was played by the first son of the buya, when his bodyguard, who was a member of the National Police, was praying.

"My deepest condolences for the death of Buya Arrazy's son. May the families left behind be given fortitude," said Poengky.

According to Poengky, firearms storage if members are praying or taking a temporary break from their duties must be kept and placed in a very safe place out of anyone's reach.

Because, he continued, if the firearms fell into the hands of other people, especially children, it would be very dangerous. Therefore, Kompolnas encouraged the National Police Propam to examine the members of the National Police with the initials M and take responsibility for their actions.

"If there is a fatal error in Propam's assessment, then the person concerned can be subject to a maximum sanction in accordance with Perpol Number 7 of 2022, especially if it is suspected that the negligence resulted in the loss of life, then the person concerned can be punished," said Poengky.

In the Police Regulation (Perpol) Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Professional Code of Ethics and the Police Code of Ethics Commission (KKEP), which was just promulgated on June 14, in Chapter XI Article 107 it states that Polri officials who violate the KKEP are subject to sanctions in the form of ethical and moral sanctions. /or administrative sanctions.

Ethical sanctions are given to suspected violators who commit violations in the light category, while administrative sanctions are given to suspected violations who commit moderate to severe violations.

At the end of 2021 Kompolnas will produce a video guide for storing firearms for members of the National Police. The video contains guides on how to store firearms, weapons storage and retrieval systems, dry bullet firearm training and concentration exercises.

Previously, a member of the National Police with the initials M who was the bodyguard of Buya Arrazy Hasyim, the cleric who supervised the Sufism Institute Ribath Nouraniyah Hasyimiyah underwent an examination at the Propam Police Headquarters regarding his negligence that killed his son.

Head of the Public Information Section (Kabagpenum) of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Kombes Pol. Gatot Repli Handoko said the incident was handled directly by the National Police Headquarters through the Propam Division.

"What is clear is that the Police will take firm action against these members," said Gatot when confirmed in Jakarta, Thursday (23/6).
