BATAM - The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Singapore will continue to oversee the process of repatriating the bodies of prospective Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) to Indonesia which were found in Singapore waters.

"That's right, we will continue to monitor and we have intensive coordination with the Singapore Police and the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) Riau Islands regarding the return process," said Head of Coordination of Social and Culture Functions at the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore, Ratna Lestari, quoted by Antara, Thursday, June 23.

Ratna explained that basically the repatriation of the CPMI's body in the name of 38-year-old Lalu Ahmat Sapii was just waiting for permission from the Singapore government.

"The point is, if there is clarity, both from the Indonesian government, namely the Indonesian Embassy in Singapore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and BP2MI with the Singapore Police, including the return permit granted by the Singapore government, then we will process the return," he said.

For now, said Ratna, his party is still waiting for an examination of the body by the Singapore Police.

"Still waiting for the autopsy results and others first," he said.

BP2MI reported that the Riau Islands Province has confirmed that the bodies found in Singapore waters are those of PMI candidates who went missing in the waters of Nongsa, Batam.

"After investigating 23 PMI survivors, it is true that the body is one of their friends who was declared missing," said Head of the BP2MI Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) Mangiring Sinaga from a written statement received by Antara in Batam, Riau Islands, Wednesday (22 /6).

The identity of the corpse is Lalu Ahmat Sapii, 38 years old, male and from Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

"We also found the victim's Identity Card (KTP), Driving License (SIM) C belonging to the victim and an invalid KTKLN (Overseas Worker Card) issued on 27 May 2013 belonging to the victim," said Mangiring.
