JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency, Asep Kuswanto, admitted that so far no investors have been invited to build the Sunter ITF waste processing facility.

Asep estimates that the BUMD PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) which is given the responsibility to build the Sunter ITF will only get a partner in November 2022 or after the term of office of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Basw and ends in October.

"We hope, if possible, at the end of September and early November there will be a new partner from PT Jakpro to build the Sunter ITF," Asep told reporters, Thursday, June 23.

Asep said that his party does not yet have a target for the construction of the Sunter ITF to begin. DKI is still focusing on finding investors after the previous investors left the project.

"In terms of development, hopefully there will be a commitment first from the prospective partners in Sunter," he said.

As is known, the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan has carried out the groundbreaking of the Sunter ITF since 2018, but until now the construction has not been carried out.

In its development, the planning for the construction of the Sunter ITF carried out by the BUMD PT Jakarta Propertindo initially collaborated with a power plant company from Finland, Fortum Power Heat and Oy as an investor.

However, over time, Fortum left the Sunter ITF project. Then, the DKI Provincial Government plans to borrow money from state-owned PT PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI). Unfortunately, the DPRD did not allow this.

Therefore, in today's meeting, the Chairman of Commission D of the DKI DPRD Ida Mahcepat suggested that Jakpro apply for regional capital participation (PMD) in the revised APBD for the 2022 budget year as the construction costs of the Sunter ITF with an initial budget estimate of Rp. 3 trillion to Rp. 4 trillion.

In the last working meeting, Commission D of the DKI DPRD also gave an ultimatum to the DKI Provincial Government to start the construction of the Sunter ITF before Anies' term of office ends in October.

"We just give an ultimatum until the governor ends his term, in October there will be no significant progress, it will not materialize, so just stop Sunter ITF," said a member of Commission D of the DKI DPRD at the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, Monday, May 23.

Jamaludin emphasized that the waste management development plan at Sunter ITF requires real action. Bearing in mind, Jakarta's waste collection site at the Bantargebang TPST is predicted to be full in the near future. "I don't think we need to be presented with the technicalities, what are we looking for, what is produced, the benefits, we don't need it. We just need the facts. 4 years since the appointment, until today it's just a beauty contest," said Jamaludin.
