Sick Hajj Candidates In The Holy Land Have Reached 447 People

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Religion reports that 447 Indonesian pilgrims have been sick since their first arrival in the Holy Land.

Spokesman for the Hajj Organizing Committee (PPIH) of the Ministry of Religion, Akhmad Fauzin, detailed that 302 people had to be outpatient, 142 were treated at the Indonesian Hajj health clinic, and three were treated at a Saudi Arabian hospital.

"Meanwhile, one more candidate has died," said Fauzin at a press conference for the Hajj in Jakarta, Thursday, June 23, quoted from Antara.

Fauzin said the deceased pilgrim candidate was in the name of Subagi Darnoso Daud bin Darnoso (60) with passport number C5628125 from Solo Embarkation (SOC). Thus, as many as 10 people have died so far.

The Ministry of Religion reminded pilgrims to limit outdoor activities, always wear footwear, don't wait to be thirsty to drink, maintain health by eating on time and getting enough rest.

"Regulate your own health condition and don't force yourself to always pray at the Grand Mosque considering that the time for wukuf is still long," he said.

Meanwhile, PPIH reports that as many as 57,100 regular hajj candidates have already departed for the Holy Land, both landing in Medina and Jeddah. There are 1,827 special pilgrims who have arrived in the Holy Land.

On Thursday, 4,429 hajj candidates will be dispatched which will be divided into 11 groups departing from seven embarkations.

Each of the two groups departed from the Jakarta-Bekasi/JKS Embarkation (820 people), Solo/SOC (720), Surabaya/SUB (900), and Makassar/UPG (786). In addition, there is one batch each from Balikpapan/BPN Embarkation (360 people), Batam/BTH (450), and Lombok/LOP (360).
