PDIP Opens Opportunities For Cooperation With Gerindra, PKB, And Parties In KIB

JAKARTA - The PDI-P (PDIP) has closed the door to cooperation with the PKS and the Democratic Party. However, there are opportunities for the Gerindra Party, the National Awakening Party, to parties that are members of the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) such as the Golkar Party, PAN, and PPP.

"Yes, we are with PAN, because the base is Muhammadiyah. With PKB, with PPP, then Golkar, with Gerindra," said PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto to reporters at the PDIP Party School, Lenteng Agung, Jakarta, Thursday, June 23.

Hasto ensured that PDIP would build cooperation with other parties. Moreover, they want to build a spirit of gotong royong for the progress of the nation, which is not just calculating political calculations to get a ministerial seat.

"We are building the spirit of gotong royong. But this cooperation arises from one of the deepest intentions for the progress of Indonesia. It's not just how many ministerial political calculations will be obtained through this cooperation," said Hasto.

Meanwhile, when asked about the opportunity for PDIP to form a coalition with NasDem, Hasto only answered diplomatically. He said his party and NasDem had been working together since 2014 to support President Joko Widodo's government.

"Oh NasDem, we have been working together since 2014 and now we still support Pak Jokowi and Kiai Haji Maruf Amin," said Hasto.

While the opportunity to work with PKS and Democrats, PDIP closed the door. Hasto said that in building a coalition one must also consider the emotional factors as well as the historical facts behind it. These two things cannot be ignored.

"Well, for the PDI-P, cooperation is mutual respect and progress for our great Indonesia for the benefit of the people, not for the interests of the elite," he concluded.
