JAKARTA - The examination process of the former Minister of Trade (Mendag) Muhammad Lutfi as a witness to the alleged corruption case of crude palm oil (CPO) has been completed. The Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) said that one of the examination materials involved the implementation of CPO export rules.

"Checking questions about, firstly, is related to the background and implementation of regulations issued by the Ministry of Trade regarding the highest retail price (HET), export provisions, DMO (domestic market obligation) provisions and others," said the Director of Investigations at the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes at the AGO, Supardi told reporters, Wednesday, June 22.

Investigators also raised several questions regarding the regulation of CPO exports. So far, said Supardi, the former Trade Minister has answered all the questions according to his knowledge.

"Several provisions concerning the issuance of export approvals, and also being asked about the knowledge experienced, were heard by witnesses regarding the suspects," he said.

During the investigation which lasted for 12 hours, investigators confronted Lutfi's statement with the evidence that had been collected.

However, the results of the confrontation were not detailed. The reason is that the examination material is an investigative technician.

"We were also confronted with various evidences that had been confiscated before. There was some evidence before that," said Supardi.

Recently, the AGO also named Lin Che Wei as a private person as a suspect.
