JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan is ready to accommodate the petition for a change in the name of the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) to MH Thamrin. But do not mean he will immediately agree.

"Definitely accommodated, agree or not later the other considerations," said Anies at the Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, June 22.

At the same location, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria also emphasized that his party accommodated the proposals contained in the petition.

"Anyway, it's accommodated," he said.

Meanwhile, historian JJ Rizal said Anies Baswedan and his staff were "disobedient" to history if they did not accept the proposal for the name JIS to become the Mohammad Husni Thamrin Stadium (MH Thamrin).

"It's a shame if it's not accepted, it's disobedient to the history of Jakarta and Indonesia," said JJ Rizal to reporters at DKI Jakarta City Hall.

Rizal said Anies had to accept the proposal contained in the petition, because according to him, the magnificent stadium located in the Tanjung Priok area, North Jakarta, did not yet have a name.

"We propose a name, that the name will be accepted or not, said Mas Anies earlier, this is not necessarily accepted, yes. Yes, we think this must be accepted," he said.

Rizal said the petition had been signed by more than 5,700 people. He has also submitted a petition that proposes changing the name of JIS directly to Anies.

"We are happy to finally meet the governor and submit a petition from the public," he said.

JJ Rizal said that MH Thamrin deserves to be the name of a magnificent stadium, because MH Thamrin is not only a national hero and a Betawi son, but also a football hero.

According to him, MH Thamrin is also a symbol of Indonesian nationalism that is growing in Jakarta.

"A monumental building, such as the stadium which will be inaugurated today, should receive a name whose historical service and role is as great as monumental. We also fulfill the mandate regarding naming the appearance of the earth, which should refer to the characteristics and history that are deeply rooted in a place," said Rizal. .
