Police Appreciation, Komnas Perempuan Hopes The Next Policewoman To Take The Position Of Regional Police Chief

JAKARTA - The National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan) welcomes the placement of a number of female police officers (polwan) in strategic positions within the National Police.

"We appreciate the appointment of policewomen in strategic positions. Hopefully this will be a positive signal for more progressive women's leadership within the Indonesian National Police," said Komnas Perempuan Chair Andy Yentriyani in a written statement, Wednesday, June 22.

As is known, the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo announced a number of names of policewomen who were promoted to strategic positions including promotions.

In the future, Komnas Perempuan hopes that there will be a policewoman who is trusted to carry out the mandate as the Head of the Regional Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Kapolda).

"With this strategic appointment, we hope that more policewomen will be appointed in strategic command positions, including becoming Regional Police Chief," he hoped.

In addition to welcoming policewomen who have filled a number of strategic positions, Andy also hopes that in the future the recruitment of policewomen will be increased in terms of quantity. This is because policewomen are needed in many work units.

Not only that, Komnas Perempuan hopes that the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, will also immediately form a Directorate of Criminal Acts of Violence against Women.

According to him, the directorate is important to anticipate reports from the implementation of the Sexual Violence Act (TPKS). Including efforts to ensure access to justice for women in conflict with the law.

National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo gave promotions to a number of policewomen in the form of promotions and occupying strategic positions in the Bhayangkara Corps, this was stated in the telegram.

In the telegram Number: ST/1214/VI/KEP./2022 dated June 20, 2022, there was one policewoman who was promoted to a two-star rank (Irjen Pol) namely Brigadier General Juansih.

He was also promoted to the position of Widyaiswara of the Main Police Level I Sespim Lemdiklat Polri. Then Kombes Pol. Nurul Azizah was promoted to Head of the Public Information Section (Kabagpenum) of the Police Public Relations Division.
