SEMARANG - The Semarang Police are investigating the origin of around 50 goat carcasses that were allegedly dumped in Serang River in Susukan District, Semarang Regency, Central Java.

Semarang Police Chief AKBP Yovan Fatika confirmed that there were reports from the public who found dozens of goat carcasses around the Serang River Bridge.

According to him, this information has been coordinated with the local Nail and Mouth Disease Task Force.

He said there were about 50 goat carcasses that were found stuck between the river rocks on Tuesday (21/6).

"They have been evacuated and buried according to the applicable protocol," he said, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, June 21.

Yovan admitted that he did not know the perpetrators who disposed of the dead goats.

From the information of residents around the Susukan and Tengaran sub-districts, he continued, there were no goat breeders in the area.

He said the goat carcasses that were dumped into the river were thought to have come from outside the area.

In addition, he said, the dozens of goat carcasses were strongly suspected to have come from farms given the code marks on the ears of each discarded carcass.

To the people of Semarang Regency, he appealed to livestock that died due to disease to immediately report it to the Oral and Nail Disease Task Force for treatment according to established procedures.
