TANGERANG - A total of 743 animals in eight sub-districts in Tangerang City were declared to be suspected of having Oral and Nail Disease (FMD).

Head of Agriculture for the Food Security Service (DKP) of Tangerang City, Ibnu Ariefyanto, said that the highest number of infected was in the Cipondoh area, with 260 animals.

Based on data from Tangerang City (DKP), the eight sub-districts include Cipondoh, Pinang, Periuk, Karang Tengah, Ciledug, Neglasari, Benda and Karawaci.

"743 are suspected or infected with PMK, yes. (For the most part) there are around 260 Cipondoh, but 7.5 percent have recovered," Ibnu said when confirmed, Tuesday, June 21.

Even though there are hundreds of animals that have contracted FMD, Ibnu appealed to his residents not to worry too much.

"His advice is that you don't be afraid to make sacrifices. We are also smart in choosing animals to avoid FMD," he concluded.
