RIAU - Riau Governor Syamsuar said 300 apprentices would be distributed to 20 companies in the service, hotel, hospital, and manufacturing sectors to improve competence according to the needs of the labor market.

This was conveyed by Syamsuar when opening the Domestic Apprenticeship event for the 2022 Fiscal Year in Pekanbaru, Monday, June 20. This event was organized by the Riau Manpower and Transmigration Office in collaboration with BPJS Employment and the Apprenticeship Network Communication Forum (FKJP).

"Through this apprenticeship activity, we can improve the quality of human resources (HR), as well as the knowledge and skills possessed by interns can be implemented properly in the companies where they work," he said at the location quoted by Antara.

Syamsuar expressed his gratitude to the Riau Province FKJP as well as company leaders who have provided the opportunity for Riau's sons and daughters to do apprenticeships in their company. He hopes that more companies will be willing to provide internship opportunities to work at the company.

The Governor views that increasing conducive investment in the regions is one of the efforts to open up job opportunities for the community.

"God willing, in two weeks there will be investors who will come from Singapore, so that later there will be opportunities for Riau workers who are still unemployed," he said.

He said that in 2021 there would be 61,000 workers absorbed by this company that invests in Riau and was able to reduce the number of unemployed in Riau.

Head of the Manpower and Transmigration Office of Riau Province Imron Rosyidi said the apprenticeship will be carried out for five months with funding coming from the budget implementation list (DIPA) and the POK of the Directorate General of Binalattas Vocational Education and Training Program for the 2022 Fiscal Year of the Riau Province Manpower and Transmigration Office.

Participants get apprenticeship facilities, namely work clothes, BPJS Employment insurance, pocket money, and certificates. Apprenticeship also aims to equip apprentices with regard to controlling work attitudes, knowledge and skills based on experience in carrying out tasks in accordance with the training program.

"Apprenticeships are also intended to increase work awareness and reduce unemployment rates and increase the credibility and productivity of the workforce," he said.
