MALUT - The Ternate City Environment Service (DLH) will mitigate the discovery of piles of garbage scattered in the local sea.

The Head of Pollution, Control and Prevention of Environmental Damage, Ternate DLH, Syarif Tjan said that his party had taken anticipation to prevent piles of garbage in Ternate waters.

"We will overcome the waste problem, because it will threaten the marine biota ecosystem, due to piles of garbage around Ternate waters," said Syarif in Ternate, North Maluku (Malut), Friday, June 17.

Syarif explained, most of the garbage in Ternate waters comes from various times of death and during the rainy season the garbage can be carried to the sea.

For that, he said, DLH will anticipate through outreach to the community so as not to throw garbage in dead times and provide facilities in the form of temporary disposal sites (TPS) for garbage around dead times.

In addition, based on the Antara report, DLH will also build a trans depot to address various waste problems in an effort to realize the work program of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Ternate.

Head of Ternate City DLH Tony Pontoh added that his party will conduct socialization in various urban villages where the construction of the trans depot will be located.

"So that during construction there is no rejection from local residents," said Tony Pontoh when contacted, Thursday, June 16.

In realizing this program, the Ternate City Government through Balitbangda together with the DLH, District and Urban Village in Ternate City has held a joint meeting to provide trans depots in the Dufa-Dufa, Kalumata, Takoma and Gambesi areas.

In addition, the Ternate City Government has launched the Trans Depo in Bastiong Karance Village, Ternate City in support of five main programs that are used as triggers in building the Mainstay Ternate City.

Meanwhile, the Ternate City Public Works and Public Housing Agency (PUPR) has built drainage by providing water infiltration to anticipate piles of garbage being carried to the sea.

PUPR also installs box culverts on road bodies and water catchers next to drainage, installed up to 5-6 meters, of course very useful for catching water so that all garbage doesn't get carried into the sea.
