Bareskrim Examines Three Directors Of PT WanaArtha Life, Case Of Alleged Fraud Of Customer Data Rises Investigation

JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police is investigating cases of alleged fraud and falsification of data on insurance policy holders of PT WanaArtha Life. The status of the case has been upgraded to an investigation.

"The update is related to the development of the alleged embezzlement of WanaArtha. That the handling of the WanaArtha case has been upgraded from an investigation to an investigation," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Public Relations Division Kombes Gatot Repli Handoko to reporters, Friday, June 17.

The status of this case was increased after the investigative team conducted a case title. Based on evidence and instructions, the case with three police reports meets the criminal elements of Article 75 of Law number 40 of 2014 regarding the submission of incorrect information to policyholders.

Then he was charged with Article 76 related to embezzlement of insurance premiums and Article 81 in conjunction with Article 82 related to insurance corporations.

The three police reports were registered with the number LP B/0476.VIII.2020/Bareskrim on 5 August 2020, LP B/0606/X/2020/Bareskrim on 23 October 2020, and LP B/0108/II/2021/Bareskrim on 16 February 2021.

"And the investigation warrant, the first number is SP.Sidik/89/I/Res.1.24/2022/Dittipideksus dated January 1, 2022, then the second is SP.Sidik/895.XI/Res1.24/2022/Dittipideksus dated November 25, 2021, then the third one is SP.Sidik/621.VII/Res1.24.22021/Dittipideksus," said Gatot.

In handling this case, 57 witnesses have been questioned. The details are 40 policyholders, 14 agents and 3 directors of PT WanaArtha Life.

In the near future, investigators will examine several directors of the company. Investigators will also seek expert opinion.

"Furthermore, investigators will conduct additional examinations of directors, insurance experts, corporations and labor experts, and will carry out case titles," said Gatot.
