Prevent Trees From Falling, Thousands Of Trees In East Jakarta Pruned Within 5 Months

JAKARTA - As many as 10 thousand more lush trees in East Jakarta have been carried out with trimmings or pruning to anticipate fallen trees when extreme weather occurs in Jakarta.

The tree trimming was carried out by the East Jakarta City Parks and Forests Sub-department (Sudin) from January to May 2022, there were at least 10,015 trees recorded.

Menoping is a follow-up to citizen reports through letters and the Citizen Relations Management (CRM) application.

"We will continue to carry out regular patrols and monitoring every month. If we find trees that are quite tall and thick, we will immediately carry out trimmings (pruning)," said Head of Forestry and Green Lines of East Jakarta City Parks and Forests Sub-dept., Atang Setiawan told reporters on Friday, June 17th.

The most pruning of trees occurred in the Duren Sawit sub-district with 958 trees, Ciracas with 946 trees, Cipayung with 891 trees, Cakung with 835 trees, Pasar Rebo with 808 trees.

Then, Pulogadung District has 787 trees, Makassar has 775 trees, Kramat Jati has 774 trees, Matraman has 743 trees, and Jatinegara has 699 trees.

Hundreds of trees in each of these areas were trimmed by the sub-district level implementation unit (Satpel). Meanwhile, 1,889 trees were cut by the Buser Toping Team at the city level.

"Hopefully East Jakarta will remain safe from the danger of fallen trees causing losses and even fatalities," he said.
