Wahidin Halim Moves From Democrat To NasDem, Promised By 2024 Legislative Candidates

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the NasDem Party Ahmad Ali confirmed the news of the transfer of former Banten Governor Wahidin Halim from the Democratic Party to the NasDem Party. Wahidin will participate in the 2024 Legislative Election (Pileg) through the NasDem Party.

Wahidin Halim's move has attracted attention because he is known as a loyalist to the chairman of the Democratic Party's High Council, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

"If you really ask Wahidin to join NasDem, you're right. Why? Yesterday, the Banten DPW was announced," said Ahmad Ali at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, June 17.

Ahmad Ali ensured that Wahidin would be accommodated by NasDem to be able to advance as a legislative candidate in the 2024 Simultaneous Election.

"Wahidin Halim's class, can't we accommodate? He saw NasDem getting better day by day, he was interested. God willing, there will be candidates in 2024," he continued.

Therefore, Ahmad Ali stated, the NasDem Party will roll out a blue carpet to welcome Wahidin Halim who is considered prominent.

“We have a program called Indonesia calling. The Indonesian program calls that anyone, especially a figure in his class (Wahidin) who wants to join NasDem. We love the blue carpet," he said.

Previously, Wahidin Halim was seen attending the NasDem National Working Meeting at the JCC, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, June 16. His presence ensured he left the Democratic Party. Wahidin revealed the reason for moving from the Democratic Party to the NasDem Party as a political strategy step for the 2024 election later.

"As a political strategy for the 2024 election, I must have a political vehicle," Wahidin said, Thursday, June 16.

Wahidin admitted that he had the opportunity to become a political party cadre in the Nasdem Party through direct communication with the General Chair of the Nasdem Party, Surya Paloh.

"I was invited by Mr. Surya Paloh for a discussion for about 2 hours and I was given the opportunity and offered a candidate for governor for the second period, a candidate for the DPR RI or another," said the former mayor of Tangerang 2 this period.
