TANJUNGPINANG - Governor of the Riau Islands Province (Kepri) Ansar Ahmad claimed that until June 2022 he had realized regional expenditures related to the use of domestic products of Rp. 106.7 billion, consisting of 919 packages.

"Meanwhile, data on the use of domestic products that are still being validated amounted to Rp. 575.9 billion, consisting of 4,372 packages," said Riau Islands Governor Ansar Ahmad in Tanjungpinang as reported by Antara, Wednesday, June 15.

Ansar said that for local e-catalogs in Riau Islands alone, there were already 25 companies that were onboarding or registered in the local e-catalog application.

In the local e-catalog, he said, there are 10 storefronts that can be registered by local companies or businesses.

"We have to work hard, because in August 2022 it is targeted that the use of domestic products can increase even higher than now," said Governor Ansar.

Governor Ansar asked his staff as well as regents and mayors throughout the Riau Islands to follow the direction of Indonesian President Joko Widodo to increase the realization of regional spending on domestic products.

According to him, President Joko Widodo's instructions are very good because government agencies that use their budgets for spending on local products can accelerate the circulation of money and have an impact on improving the regional economy.

"For the Riau Islands, we must fully support the instructions of the President, because it will have a very good double effect for economic recovery," said Ansar.

Ansar also conveyed the recapitulation of the realization of the Riau Islands Provincial Budget in 2022, for financial realization up to June 10, 2022 it had reached 28.51 percent and physical realization up to May 31, 2022 had reached 28.37 percent.

Furthermore, the realization of the Riau Islands Province APBD revenue from 2022 to June 10, 2022 has reached 35.81 percent consisting of regional original income, transfer income, and other legitimate income.

The former member of the DPR RI said that two prerequisites were needed to increase local revenue. First, the intensification of local levies, such as motor vehicle taxes, surface water taxes, and underground water taxes.

"Second is to intensify extensification by mapping other income potentials that can still be pursued and encouraged," said Ansar.

"I know that many ministries, many institutions, many regional (governments) do not want to buy domestic products. The reasons are various. The specs are not right, the quality is not good. The reasons are many. The President emphasized that central and regional government spending must consider three important things, namely creating added value, generating domestic economic growth and thirdly being efficient.

According to the President, the government budget, both APBN and APBD which has been collected from tax payments and PNBP should be allocated for spending on domestic products that generate added value and increase economic growth.

"This is the APBN, you know. This is APBD money, you know. Buy imported products. The added value can be obtained by other countries, jobs that can be obtained by other people. Are our people stupid?," the President emphasized.

Therefore, the Head of State asked the Government Internal Supervisory Apparatus (APIP) and the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) to continue to oversee so that domestic products can dominate central and regional government spending.

Meanwhile, Head of BPKP Muhammad Yusuf Ateh explained that until the first quarter of 2022, imported products still dominated e-catalogs.
