Rain And Strong Winds Hit Cianjur, Roofs Of 2 Elementary Classrooms Collapse

JAKARTA - The intensity of rainfall accompanied by strong winds in Cianjur Regency has damaged the roofs of two classrooms at SDN Panyusuhan 3, Payusuhan Village.

The head of SDN 3 Panyusuhan Asep Suryana said there were no casualties in the incident. However, dozens of students were forced to take turns teaching and learning process.

"The condition of the two rooms is old and has not received assistance for renovations, even the horses on the roof are thought to have rotted so that when it rained heavily for more than two hours, the roof of the building collapsed," said Asep in Cianjur, West Java, quoted by Antara. , Wednesday 15 June.

He explained, since the last few months, the school had not used the two rooms, as an effort to anticipate unwanted things because the building was not suitable, especially the roof and ceiling that had leaked.

So that teaching and learning activities for grades V and VI are diverted in the afternoon after grade I, II, III and IV students go home after entering in the morning. His party has reported the incident to the relevant department in the hope that it can be rebuilt soon.

"It has been almost 30 years since the school building has not received any renovation or repair, only last year it received assistance to repair the teacher's room," he said.

Cianjur Regent Herman Suherman added that his party had ordered the education office to register damaged schools so that they could immediately receive assistance, so that the teaching and learning process would not be disrupted and students could study safely and comfortably.

"We will immediately rebuild the collapsed classrooms, so that the children can return to the normal teaching and learning process. The education office has collected data and I hope the construction can be carried out soon," he said.
