JAKARTA - The air quality in Jakarta today is the worst compared to other big cities in the world. This can be seen in the air quality index on the IQAir page.

Based on IQAir's updated monitoring at 12.09 Western Indonesian Time (WIB), Jakarta ranks first as the city with the highest air pollution level, with a level of 168 US AQI.

"Jakarta's air pollution level is unhealthy," IQAir said, quoted by VOI on Wednesday, June 15.

IQAir stated that Jakarta was ranked first in the city with the worst air quality since last Tuesday, June 14.

The cities with the worst air quality after Jakarta are Dubai, United Arab Emirates with a level of 163 US AQI; Santiago, Chile with a level of 152 US AQI. These two cities also fall into the unhealthy category.

After that, there is the city of Kathmandu, Nepal with a level of 139 AQI US; Delhi, India with US AQI level of 123; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia with 122 US AQI level, and Tehran, Iran with 102 US AQI level. These cities fall into the category of unhealthy for sensitive groups.

Responding to this, the Public Relations of the DKI Environmental Agency, Yogi Ikhwan, explained that since early this morning the humidity in Jakarta was quite high.

Meanwhile, the air temperature is low due to pollution that has accumulated in the troposphere. This is monitored from the air quality monitoring station (SPKLU) managed by the Environmental Service.

"This high humidity and low temperature resulted in air quality conditions such as fog, supported also by cloudy weather," said Yogi.
